1970s World Folk & Fairy Tales Collection

Published by Daisy on

A new page in my list of illustrated bibliographies has been added.

The Frederick Muller’s World Fairy Tales Collections (also known as the ‘Folk and Fairy Tales’ series) were published between the late 1950s to the early 1970s. The books contain some lovely tales from countries all around the world, and all the ones I have read have been of a high standard.

Different countries are covered by different authors, and the black and white (no colour) illustrations are by a variety of different illustrators, but all are quality. Because the dust jacket for each book is often illustrated in the style of the regional tales being told, the books don’t always look like a series, and they can easily be collected separately. There are also several collections that were created later which contain representative tales from many countries.
