Collecting Penguin Clothbound Poetry

A collector's guide to the books in Penguin's clothbound poetry classics series.

Introduction

Arguably part of the larger Penguin’s clothbound classics series, this collection of 10 clothbound poetry classics was first released in the UK in August 2017, and later in Canada and the US in 2018.

The covers feature decorations by the ever-talented Coralie Bickford-Smith stamped onto a cloth binding. Each volume presents the poet’s most famous book of verse as it was originally published.

First printings also included removable cardboard belly bands on the back cover featuring a short quote and excerpt from the design.
