Introduction & Series Review
DK’s Ancient Myths series presents engaging retellings of the myths for a contemporary audience – including both well-known classics as well as lesser-known stories. Thoughtful reference sections and pronunciation guides are also included in each of the volumes. But I fell in love with this series for the gorgeous illustrations by Katie Ponder that recall the sleek and stylised geometry of the art deco movement, seasoned with a dash of bright colour and gothic inspiration. Each volume includes decorative endpapers, touches of gilt on the cover, and sewn signatures in a hybrid binding. The only difference I can see between UK and US editions has been spelling conventions.
