In November of 2009, Bloomsbury released a set of seven special edition hardbacks to celebrate the 70th birthday of Margaret Atwood. Only 1500 copies of each title were printed, so they are relatively difficult to track down.
The books were naked hardcovers, bound in coloured paper with silver foiling and a silver ribbon bookmark. The cover designs were by David Mann, and the cover, endpaper and ex libris illustrations by Victoria Sawdon. The book spines contain text that spells out “ATWOOD70”. A complementary “special edition” design for The Year of the Flood was also released this year; however this volume was higher quality being bound in linen, signed, numbered and slipcased.
