Beehive Books are teaming up with legendary artist Mike Mignola and hilarious author Lemony Snicket (aka Daniel Handler) to create a stunning crowd-funded interactive edition of Carlo Collodi’s beloved children’s classic Pinocchio.
Not only will the book be produced to Beehive’s exacting standards (see my article on their gorgeous Illuminated Editions series), but it will include over fifty illustrations from Mike Mignola and colorist Dave Stewart and an exciting full text annotation by Lemony Snicket that is included as removable typewritten sheets.
Their Kickstarter was funded within 15 minutes, which shows what a loyal following this wonderful press has built already. It is open to new backers until Friday, April 21, 2023.
The Kickstarter also provides an opportunity to purchase one of 26 copies of the lettered edition (with cloth clamshell and original drawing), or one of 300 limited edition books (signed and cloth-wrapped) as well.
ps – yes, I’ve already backed it, and I can’t wait to see how it develops!
Edited to add: All of the limited/lettered editions sold out on the first day, but Beehive Books have advised they are looking into other special states to offer backers who missed out on these states.

Hi Tina – you’ll need to order the book through the Kickstarter program, or else wait until it hits retail stores (likely a year or two away).
