Welcome to this overview of the gorgeous deluxe illustrated edition of the first book in Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series, “The Lightning Thief” – full video overview above.
This new edition of “The Lightning Thief” has been illustrated throughout by American artist John Rocco. John has been associated with the Percy Jackson world for a long time, having created the iconic cover art for the series, along with the colourful covers for Rick’s later works including the Kane Chronicles, Heroes of Olympus, Magnus Chase, and the Trials of Apollo series.
John Rocco also collaborated with Rick Riordan on his two stunning collections of Greek myths: Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods and Percy Jackson’s Greek Heroes. And this illustrated edition of The Lightning Thief is almost as large as those two illustrated mythic encyclopedias. It’s huge!
It’s a stunning edition, with full colour art on almost every page. The binding is smyth-sewn with a blue ribbon bookmark. And the mapped endpapers show Camp Half-blood on the front pages and Percy’s quest along the back pages. There is even a debossed trident on the covers under the dust jacket.
Definitely a lovely edition for collectors.
