Finding Out: A Modern Library of Education in Weekly Parts’ was a British weekly educational magazine for children, first published by Purnell & Sons Ltd in 1962.

The magazine was noted for its illustrations, which were by some of the top book illustrators of the day, including Angus McBride and Janet and Anne Grahame Johnstone.

I have recently expanded my Grahame Johnstone twins illustrated bibliography with a new page that includes all the volumes of this magazine that included illustrations by the Grahame Johnstone twins, including several illustrations from stories within the volumes.

Most of the illustrated serials were written by Roger Lancelyn Green, and later published in book form. The illustrations are stunning, and the books are highly collectible. A Finding Out Treasury was also published, containing many of the most popular stories from the magazine’s publishing history.

I'm the founder and operator of the Beautiful Books website. If you want to know more about me, I have a whole page about myself and my collecting journey in the 'About' section of the website so it seems a bit of overkill to write more here ツ

They really had such incredible illustrations in this magazine, I think that’s why it really stands out in people’s minds! Glad you found it again 💕
