Most Beautiful Books of 2021: A Holiday Gift Guide

Wow – I can’t believe its already time for my fifth annual holiday gift guide! This post is where I review the most beautifully designed books published during 2021, to help you find some treasures to share with your nearest and dearest, or to add to your own shelves.

The books are all listed below, loosely sorted by genre, and any book with a star () next to it is also visually reviewed in the video above. If I recommend a book in this list, you can rest assured it’s not just the physical beauty that counts – I do also read every book I recommend, and I only include books where I think the contents are beautiful too  .

ISBNs and bookshop links are included below if you are interested in buying any of the books for yourself. Some of the links are affiliate links (thank you if you use them!) but do support your local bookstore if you can. If annual guides aren’t enough for you, I invite you to also check out my regularly updated lists of special editions, pre-order offers, and to subscribe to my occasional newsletter.

Thank you for this amazing list! I check your website every few weeks to see if you’ve added anything new. I’m curious — how do you find these beautiful editions?

    Daisy · 10 January 2022 at 9:56 am

Hi Emily – sorry for the late reply (I was offline in December). I have a couple of articles about how to find beautiful editions on the website, but essentially I am subscribed to a bunch of different authors and publishers, as well as stalking several bookshops. I have a page where I list upcoming beautiful editions as I find them here: https://beautifulbooks.info/finding-fancy-books/special-editions/
